Street Dance & Hip Hop Dance Moves

Perhaps you aren't looking to learn street dance routines or entire dance styles, but are just looking to learn some cool street/ hip hop style moves.

Well I haven't forgotten about you. This is actually the easiest thing to do. Because of the invention called the home-made camera.

There are loads and loads of hip hop dance video tutorials in all the hip hop styles at (www.youtube.com). Some of them are very good dancers and teahcers, some are clearly amateurs but you can easily shift from one video to the other.

If you want to learn individual dance moves in person, you can get private lessons with a hip hop or street dance teacher.

Or if you want a cheaper option (but still effective) you can tag along to a dance class teaching dance routines. Yes I know you might not want to learn routines but what do you think dance routines are made of? Dance moves!

What this means is that you'll learn a lot in the form of a routine, you can then go home and look at the moves that you liked and practise them. Solution!

There's nothing wrong with learning just a couple of moves if you're hip hop dancing just for fun. When your song comes on and you're ready to, just bust your moves.

The problem of course is you don't want to do the same move over and over again, so it's worth learning a number of moves that you can do to a good standard.

If you are using videos and tutorials and are finding it difficult to learn a move, search for more videos teaching the same thing. Sometimes a different teacher will explain things in a way that you understand and that will be all that is needed.

When you're doing individual moves there isn't any real need or scenario where you need to stay in one dance style, so you can choose moves from different dance styles that you like and put them together.

Just make sure that they work well together and aren't some new fangled invention of Frankenstein's. Unless you're dancing to Frankenstein's theme.

The fewer number of moves that you are doing, the better you need to do them to have any real effect so practise them thoroughly. If you're doing a routine, you might not do any outstanding moves but people will know you can dance.

So if you're only doing a few moves, make sure you look like you know what you're doing!
